Sports brought us together

Athletes gathered on the Center Stage at the Keystone Sports Festival.

The International Youth Sports Development Federation (IYSDF) is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We work to give more children access to sports and to connect families, coaches, clubs, facilities and local businesses with each other.

IYSDF did not begin as one person's idea. It grew from a group of people with different backgrounds and one shared belief: sports give a child far more than athletic skills. They teach perseverance, teamwork, respect, confidence and how to get back up after a loss. Those lessons last a lifetime.

Why we exist

Not every child will become an athlete. But every child should have the chance to discover a sport they love.

For one child, the first time holding a volleyball, kicking a soccer ball or stepping onto skates may seem small. Sometimes that moment changes everything. It's the moment a child thinks, "I can do this."

We don't want children to simply take one class. We want to help build a path: explore a sport, find an interest, get good coaching, keep going, grow.

What we do

  • Community Sports AccessWith coaches, clubs and community partners, we offer free and low-cost chances for children to try a sport, often for the first time.
  • Find a ProgramA directory of youth sports programs across Southern California, checked by Federation volunteers so families can see what's confirmed and what isn't.
  • IYSDF AccreditationA clear standard for youth sports organizations, built on safety, coaching and responsible management. It's a commitment that continues, not a one-time review.
  • Keystone Sports FestivalOnce a year, every sport in one park, so children and families can try many sports in a single day and meet the coaches and clubs behind them.
  • Youth VolunteeringYoung people help run our programs and events, and learn responsibility, service and leadership along the way.

Collaboration, not competition

Southern California is home to many outstanding coaches, clubs and facilities. IYSDF is not here to replace them. We're here to connect them, with each other and with more families. When those connections happen, everyone benefits, and the children most of all.

Membership

Family membership is free. Members hear first about programs and events and pay member prices at the festival. A membership for clubs and organizations is being developed; clubs that want to be part of it can email info@iysdf.org.

What comes next

We are a young organization, and much of IYSDF is still growing: the club membership, the accreditation program, youth leadership and family resources. We're inviting people from sports, education, insurance, law, finance and business to join our board and advisory network. One thing will not change: children stay at the center of every decision we make.

Every child has an athlete inside

Not every child will stand on a podium. But through sports a young person learns: I can keep going. I can work with others. I can face failure and start again. If IYSDF helps a child take that first step, we've helped open a door. What happens next is their journey.
